“J.E.D.I. Theology” #4

“To journey without being changed is to be a nomad. To change without journeying is to be a chameleon. To journey and be transformed is to be a pilgrim.”  – Mark Nepo  (Taken from book: Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters by Dick Staub.)

“The same followed Paul and us, and cried saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us THE WAY of salvation.” Acts 16:17

Luke Skywalker did not know it, but as he went about his drab and dreary day upon the desert planet, his whole life was about to change. He was about to take not only a physical journey, but also a spiritual one, on his way to becoming something more, a transformation. He was so restless within, anxious for a great adventure. He was outgrowing his current environment, but was he ready for an encounter with Obi-Wan? Ready or not, it came. Have you outgrown your current environment?

Many are called but few are chosen. In the parable of the sower, he was casting his seeds everywhere. Those seeds were scattered into ditches, on the road, in some fields, some on good ground and some on bad. Many different things happened to those seeds. Some died on the hard ground. Some died for lack of water. Others took root quickly, but became distracted by cares of the world, weeds choked them out, and they did not make the journey. But some…fell on good ground…made a journey…were changed in the journey… and produced.

It’s so easy to be distracted. Many times we settle for way less than were capable of because we don’t want to discipline ourself to the heroic journey. Yes, there is training and discipline involved to have Jesus Every Day Intense and Judge Every Day Inspired. J.E.D.I. Theology is for those who are looking for something more, a transformation, an heroic journey that changes you, and you’re willing to pay the price to become that person, come what may.

The power is in the Priesthood. What do I mean by that? The price we pay is to learn how to live as the priest we are called to be, involving such disciplines as quality prayer, redline faith, willing sacrifice motivated in love, fasting, study, speaking to mountains, arresting the devil, standing in the gap between man and God and offering a hand up. It is a physical and spiritual journey. It is a hero’s journey. It requires courage, a sense of mission, the vision of the need, and a passion for the purpose. It requires your true commitment to rise above the “settled for” life, to live like a man or woman on a mission, because you are.

There is A WAY that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the WAYS of death. We are God’s people of THE WAY. We need to be that people in this earth. There is a way for us to live that is powerful and full of peace and passion, if we will rise to it. Jesus is that way, as we pray, Holy Spirit master me. Will the ripples of our life make a meaningful difference in our neighborhood, our city, our earth? This is J.E.D.I. Christianity. “JESUS EVERY DAY INTENSE!”

“J.E.D.I. Theology #3”

JESUS EVERY DAY INTENSE >>>>>>> JUDGE EVERY DAY INSPIRED! JEDI! THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE!

What are these J.E.D.I. articles about? BEING MORE THAN JUST A GOOD PERSON, BUT FULFILLING YOUR PRIESTHOOD IN CHRIST.

Do you have that desire? Then we need to get back to : THE WAY.

“And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of THIS WAY,…” Acts 9:1-2

It seems my Internet is still up for one more day, so thought I might as well take advantage. As promised, I would like to add to our “J.E.D.I. Theology” series.

IS THE DESIRE ALIVE AND WELL IN YOU? To be more. To grow in your Priesthood. To desire mastery. To desire for the Holy Spirit to master you. Then we need to master “PRAYER”. It is possibly our greatest source of power. The J.E.D.I. Christian knows that the way up, is actually downward, humility, servant, Person of Prayer.

Here is something I believe only a J.E.D.I. Christian can appreciate. I have been working on memorizing Psalms 112. I have been working at it for some time. I’m slow on memorizing. Consequently, I have repeated these scriptures countless times in my effort. The other day I was SHOCKED to see a new light on some scripture and it became a very powerful prayer to pray! Let me give you the pieces, and then I will explain.

Psalms 112:1a > “Praise ye the Lord. …”

Vrs 8b > “… until he see his desire upon his enemies.”

Vrs. 10 > “The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.”

Okay, in these verses you have a very powerful prayer! As I was quoting one day, the Lord asked me, “What is your desire for your enemies?”

“I would like to see them saved, Lord.”

“Then pray the last verse with that in mind.”

“With what in mind, Lord? That they melt and perish?”

“No, but that there heart melts, and their “desire” for evil perishes. Pray for the Holy Spirit to turn up the heat! Let their wicked desires become a bad taste in their mouth and their hearts melt away from being a cold stone.”

Wow, I thought. What David probably meant in the O.T. is not the same as what we are in the N.T.. And when I looked at that scripture through N.T. eyes, I saw a powerful prayer of salvation and revival in the earth!

My time is short today, but if you desire to  have “JESUS EVERY DAY INTENSE” & “JUDGE EVERY DAY INSPIRED”, then get a handle on Psalms 112 and begin to rise up in “THE WAY” of Christ and change our neighborhoods and cities. “Praise ye the Lord!”

“The Year of the J.E.D.I.”

star wars 08

Jesus Every Day Intense!

Judge Every Day Inspired!

2015 begins and all we know is that the first Star Wars movie to come out in a long time will be hitting at the end of this year for those of us still here to see it. No one knows for whom the bell tolls between now and then. A fact we should always take seriously. So…ARE YOU READY? Ready for what? To meet your Maker if he calls.

I’ve only seen one trailer for the coming movie. THERE HAS BEEN AN AWAKENING. HAVE YOU FELT IT? (Long pause).

THE DARK SIDE…

AND THE LIGHT.

There is an awakening going on. I have felt it. I am also watching it in our Church. I’m not the only one feeling it. Christians are returning to prayer and the fire. Christians are beginning to step outside the Church box in an effort to disciple. Christians are beginning to bring Light against the darkness. Aren’t you tired of the evil growing all around us? It’s only going to change one way, and that is if we become people of “The Way” again.

J.E.D.I. Christianity is growing. I’m actually leaving my Church in order to join it. Yes, it is true. I have been involved in two Churches for some time now. One Church is praying hard and a fire is building, the other Church is not. I thought I could help lead them there, but my efforts have failed and I heard God plainly this morning. It’s time to leave. Start a new year somewhere that the people have a heart to pray.

I’m keeping this short today, but we must realize that just like a Jedi Knight had certain disciplines and weapons of their “Way”, SO DO WE, and it is time we get back to it. It is time we get about our Father’s business in “The Way” he showed us to do it. It is time to have JESUS EVERY DAY INTENSE AND JUDGE EVERY DAY INSPIRED!

For we are a Priesthood first, and everything else second!

Lets begin a LOSER Revolution. In the word “resolution” is the word “loser”. Yes, that is right, big “L” on forehead. Turn those first four letters backwards and see what you get. RESOLution. How about this year we determine to LOSE our life for Christ and have a Resolution Revolution! Now that is getting back to the way, the truth, and the life! J.E.D.I.! Can you handle it?

J.E.D.I. CHRISTIANITY #1

star wars 01

I HAVE DECIDED TO DO IT.

I’ve been praying about this for a while, the need to add something to the word “Christian” in order to differentiate between a real “Follower of Christ”, and someone who simply wants to be a “good person”. Jesus’s call to be a good person was the words, “Follow me.”

Several weeks ago I was in a Half Price bookstore looking for a book by Leonard Sweet, but in the process of this I stumbled upon a book by Dick Staub. I was unfamiliar with him, but his last name was so close to Sweet that his book was right there too, and it caught my eye. The title caught my eye. “Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters”. Right away I thought, “Oh no, something trying to mix New Age with Christianity, but because I do like the Star Wars analogy, I just had to take a peek. Much to my surprise I was impressed with what I thought I saw and just had to bring it home and give close inspection. Since beginning to read it, I can hardly put it down!

Here is a key to the heart of this book and an example of what I’m talking about: > “This book was born during a conversation with a young man named Ed, who described to me his desire to go deeper in his spiritual life as well as his uncertainty about how to make that happen. We had just seen the latest installment of the Star Wars prequels, so I restated his issue in that context: “It’s like you want to be a ‘Jedi Christian’ and my generation didn’t produce a Yoda.” (Looking For A Yoda – Page xix) Part of the Introduction.

Boy do I feel like I can identify with that statement, and maybe you do too. Most of what I have learned I feel like I was forced to learn on my own while fighting every step of the way until I finally got there. Because of that, it took a whole lot longer than it should have. The book had my attention already.

Now realize when I stumbled on this book, I had already been writing my “More than a Christian” articles. I was looking for a word to attach to Christian, but did not know what? Holiness Christian? We all know the downfalls of that reference, I hope. Remnant Christians? Now that’s a worn out term lacking any newness. But here was this guy, Dick Staub, writing incredible stuff and calling it Jedi Christian. (Hhmmm. I don’t know. Maybe?)

For me, there was something else needed. That word, Jedi, needed to mean something besides Star Wars in my mind, so I started playing with acronyms, or a mantra of sorts. Here is what I am currently settled on:

Jesus Every Day Intense!

Judge Every Day Inspired!

Now there is much I can say about these two acronyms, but for now lets leave it at this> If you make it a goal to have Jesus intense every day, then in the end of that day you will be able to > Judge every day inspired! Now that is what J.E.D.I. Christianity has become to me. It has challenged  and inspired me! The more I have said it, the more it is what my mind sees when I say Jedi!

So…here’s the deal. My series of “More than a Christian” now evolves into “J.E.D.I. CHRISTIANITY”. This series will fit very well with my Real Life story of “Do You Have Your Gotham?” I will be quoting many things from Mr. Staub’s book, and I highly recommend his book. I will also be mixing it with whatever God gives me, such as the : Judge Every Day Inspired and Jesus Every Day Intense.

Bottom line is…I want to hear God. I want to be inspired. I want to grow in Christ. I want to have a fresh fire. And I hope you want all these things too. I do not find today’s Christian inspiring. So I’m looking for a different picture and I think Mr. Staub has something here. So I am going to recommend it, share it, add my own mix to it and offer it to whosoeverwill. I hope you enjoy and grow thereby. I hope these words meet a spiritual hunger in you too. No longer inspired by the typical Christian and hungry for something more. “May the Lord of the Force be with us all.”

LIGHT / DARKNESS

star wars 03

FOR SOME OF US STAR WARS IS MORE THAN A MOVIE, IT’S AN ANALOGY.

According to the Word of God there is a struggle going on between light and darkness, truth and lies, knowledge and ignorance.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against…the rulers of the darkness of this world,…” (Eph. 6:12)

God is not about bringing “balance” to the light and darkness. Darkness has a ruler and he has already been judged, and his days numbered, so why is there a battle still going on between the Light and the Dark Side?

That battle is in US! It is in YOU and in I. The Bible still says: > “Choose you this day whom you will serve.”

We are called to be servants who are promised either great reward, or great destruction, depending on whom we serve. Are you drawn to the light or to the darkness? You have the choice. It is up to you. God came to us first and has made a way, but now will you come to him?

Are you drawn to the Light or the Darkness?

You either serve God in your spirit, or Satan in your flesh. Only the choice of which, is up to you.

Light verses Darkness. The struggle within us is very present, but God will save us from the destruction of the flesh if we yield our members unto him. Will the battle go away? No. Star Wars will continue on this earth and within us until the Lord himself returns. But God has promised to complete the good work he begins in us, and we can wield a Light Saber, not a Saber of Darkness.

I like this Star Wars Analogy. It starts in the article “Playing Your Cards Right #5” (just below), and there will be more to come. Thanks for reading. 🙂

PLAYING YOUR CARDS RIGHT? (SEE BELOW.)

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

PLaying Your Cards Right” #5

SUPERNATURAL CARDS.

In “Playing Your Cards Right” #3, we talked about, as Christians, we should believe we have supernatural cards in our hand, but how do you play them? Where has the power gone? Has it leaked away? You might want to read series #3 again, along with this one, to refresh your memory, however, let me give you a quote from Star Wars, as an aid in teaching todays lesson:

“The Jedi seeks to master the use of the Force, to be suffused with and fueled by this potent energy that surrounds us and penetrates us and binds the galaxy together.” (Quote may not be exact or complete.) I believe it was Obi-Wan Kenobi who was teaching Skywalker at this time.

I see Hollywood movies all the time that are so close to the truth and yet the true path is perverted just enough to destroy your hand! “The Matrix” was another movie, so closely paralleling the truth, but still on a wrong track. Many times our eyes are actually opened to something because of shows such as these, and if we are a seeker, we just might end up finding the truth, and if you want to be the Christian who plays a better and more powerful hand, here is what you need to know to fix Obi-Wan’s teaching.

This is a major principal in Christianity, and one you can expect Hollywood will never get right. It is also the reason this blog site carries the title and theme of “It is the Broken Wings that Soar”. For the Christian, the Force has a Master, and we do not “master” it, but we seek for the Lord of the Force, Jesus, to master “US”. BIG WHOPPING DIFFERENCE!!! We seek to yield, surrender, like the sail of a boat catching the Wind and empowering us by the Holy Spirit to move, breathe, and have our being in Him. We are disciples of the Wind, and the Wind carries us, we do not command or master the Wind. He is PILOT, I am CO-PILOT. If you master being mastered, you can play a very powerful hand.

“That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.” (Acts 17:27-28)

Do not seek to master or be the boss of the Holy Spirit, God’s Force in our life. Our prayer should be every day > “HOLY SPIRIT, MASTER ME.”

I have considered starting a Star Wars Series based on a book written by Dick Staub: “Christian Wisdom of the Jedi Masters” So far, this has been a very interesting book. If anyone would like to read such a series, please leave a comment.

So…with a sincere heart full of love for God, pray this prayer every day and play a powerful hand: HOLY SPIRIT, MASTER ME.”

“MockingJay”

5db48130-3913-11e4-97cb-c1094f1fb0b4_mockingjay-poster

I just can’t seem to get the MockingJay out of my mind.

WE MUST REMEMBER HOW SHE STARTED.

She did not want to be a part of the games. She dreaded it, feared it, as any normal person would, but love for her little sister drove her to leap into those games like a protective mother bear!

She was not aware of the gift she had to “move people”. And a movement is inspired, they find their fire, while she is simply trying to survive and save her sister.

But as I said before, saving her sister is costing her a terrible price in her body, mind, emotions, and soul. True sacrificial love will cost us. It might even cause you to live in a $120,000 house, (or less), rather than a 10 million dollar house, simply because people are in great need all around you.

She did not see herself a hero, and maybe you do not see yourself that way either, but what gifts might God have placed in you, that will only shine when great pressure has been applied? Katnis wants to save her sister, could we save a town, a city?

We talk about eagles a lot on this site, and maybe you don’t see yourself ever being an eagle living in the high places of God, but what about the raven? I love the raven. I even chose to use that particular bird in my story of “Flapless – The Little Bird that Couldn’t”. You might notice that the MockingJay warrior outfit also looks very ravenish. (Is that a word?)

I consider the raven to be “a bird for hard times”. The raven stands out 3 times in the Bible. Noah chose the raven when conditions were to chaotic for the dove. The raven chose to endure what the dove chose not to. (The Holy Spirit does seek proper conditions in its temples. Hint.) Also, the raven was called upon by God to feed the prophet Elijah during very hard times. Jesus spoke of the raven when talking about not being attached to material things, but seek first the kingdom of God.

Could you be a MockingJay? Could you be so driven to save someone that you enter the heroic? Could you be a bird for hard times?

I think Hollywood is so ignorant of spiritual things that it sometimes produces the prophetic and does not even realize. I think the MockingJay is one of those shows. In December of 2015 we have a new Star Wars coming, but right now we still have the MockingJay. Let us not ignore the handwriting on the wall!

What might happen if you dared to target a mission for God and seek to save that target? Could you be ravenish, a bird for hard times? In America many of God’s children are too busy working hard to “avoid hard times”. There is a certain honor in that. We are to meet the needs of our family and one of those great needs is to show them true love. True love will raise a healthy child, and enable them to endure many things.

If you choose the path of the MockingJay, perhaps you will suffer greatly, perhaps you will be scarred for life, but those wounds and scars will glow like gold in the eyes of the people you have helped. Think about it.

Added Note: Speaking of Momma Grizzlies…could Sarah Palin rise to be a MockingJay if she chooses to? Katnis does not become President, but she sure does cause a lot of changes from her warrior ministry. I see a potential parallel here, but it would cost her greatly, endanger her family, require a great price. Pray about it Sarah.
