“What Kind of Warrior?”

Why is that such an important question? It is important, it is so very important, because if we all do have a soul, then we actually are “eternal beings” whose existence does not end when the body dies.

And why is that so important? Because if we are “eternal”, then there really is a lot at stake! I mean, think about it. We are so conditioned to think of our lives as mortal, and temporary, but what if it is not? And what if there really are things worth fighting for in the next life? What kind of warrior do you want to be?

It is true that the Theory of Evolution and the Word of God are diametrically opposed. Almost the whole point of the Bible is a message from God saying, “You are not an animal. You are made in my image. Do not live like an animal, but imitate God, your Creator.”

Let me present this as evidence. Animals are purely instinctive. Genesis chapter one says over and over again, that he created everything “after their kind”, until it gets to man, and then it says something very different. So what does that mean?

Well, it means that a dog has always been a dog, and will always be a dog, and will always do dog things. It means a beaver will always build beaver dams, and elephants will always spray water with their trunk. Tigers will always hunt. Lions will always roar. Contrary to evolution, they do not change, but they perform as they were created to perform. Animals that have been trained to do certain things, always had the ability to be trained that way. Ten Thousand years ago, a dog was still a dog. It may not have been tamed yet, but it was still a dog, capable of being trained.

But what of man? As evidence I present that scripture says we were created in God’s image, and God is a Creator. Ever wonder why man creates, and animals do not? Man will always invent, create, design, imagine, dream, build, and progress, because he has his original Father’s image in him. It has been distorted by the fall into sin, and that is why not everything we create is good. We also create evil, but we cannot help ourselves from creating. You could say, it’s in our DNA. Obviously, it is not in the DNA of animals. I have not seen a beaver yet, that invented and installed a solar panel for his home of sticks and mud.

Dogs never ask, “Why am I here?” They are just here to be a dog. That fulfills their purpose, but man continually asks that question. Animals do not have a conscience. Oh, they may be afraid if they know they have done something that you punished them for before. They can be “trained”, but they do not have a conscience.

Man has a sense of right and wrong. We have a conscience that we can violate. We ask the question, “Why?” And, “How did I get here?” And, “What am I supposed to do with my life?” We search for MEANING! We hunger for PURPOSE! We are no more related to animals than a rock is related to a leaf on a tree. However, we do show many traits of God, even as blurred as that image may be.

So now we are back to our original question, “Do I have a soul? Am I eternal? What is at stake? Eternity? What kind of warrior do I want to be? Is there such a thing as a spiritual warrior?” Of course there is, and we would do well to decide what kind of warrior we want to be.

This is just a quick article to get some mental digestive juices flowing. Expect more to come, when the mood hits me. In the meantime, if you want more just drop down a little ways to “Love’s Warrior”. It’s some good stuff to chew on, but only a good starting place for where I am going.

“The Eternal Debate”

Just last week I was nominated for the Beautiful Bloggers Award, and I have not responded to it yet, but I have something to do first. It seems my Poems were the main reason for the award. I only have put a few up, and they have mostly gone unnoticed for a long time now, hidden away under that “The Poet” button in header bar. However, since they have triggered this award, I decided I should do a little more with the poetry, and see what happens? So…

I just wrote a new poem and the reason for this poem is another debate I found myself involved in, which a lot of it can be read in the comments section of the article: “Spending Problem?” I knew from the beginning where the debate would end up, but we are still called to speak our Lord’s message whether received or not, and so I did. But like the Apostle Paul instructed, do not become “entangled” in endless debates. I almost left the discussion several times, but then would feel led to respond again. But now, with this poem, I do end.

“The Eternal Debate”

Round and round we go, where we stop I already know; we will stop at Words and Faith.

Your faith, my faith, whose is true?

That is left for us to choose.

“Evidence” demanding verdict! For that is all we really have.

Your proof, my proof; round and round we go.

Sad thing is, neither is “proof”, you know.

A book of witnesses, for which they died; that speaks a lot to me.

First-hand accounts, worthy of any court, but you’re not satisfied.

You choose to believe they all lied.

You come back with evolution! Science has proven, so you say!

You start your case with a lie? Now I’m not satisfied.

Your theory, my theory; we go round and round.

Do not entangle endless debates, the Apostle Paul advised.

Preach the Gospel, some will come, others will deny.

It’s not up to you or I.

For when all is said and done, we come back to Words and Faith.

We are the same, creatures of what we “believe”.

Created in His image, more evidence that I see!

Science not proven is just a religion, belief, a chosen faith.

Your preachers, my preachers; round and round we go.

Where we stop, I already know.

God created ALL with Words and Faith, or so we’re told.

One more exhibit added to the case!

Try as you might, all I hear from you is more Words and Faith!

We are the same, you and I, creatures drawn to faith.

As the One who created, so the creation, it would seem.

Of course, of this, you vehemently deny!

What makes you sure of what you cannot prove? Again, we are the same, I say.

As the One who created, so the creation, unable to escape.

We always stop at Words and Faith.

Round and round we go…

Where we stop I already know…

We are “stuck” in a creation of Words and Faith.

How cool is that!!!

“By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11:3 NLT)

“Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3 NLT)

“Evolution Burnout”

About three weeks ago a friend asked me about evolution and a small discussion began. We didn’t get in to it too much because I have basically three or four points on the matter that sums it up for me, and since I’m more into spirit and nature than science, once I have my basic understanding of my position, I’m ready to move on. However, a lot of people are very involved with the theory of evolution, including some Christians. There are also those who have become emotionally invested into the subject, and some are even financially invested, as in college courses and degrees.

So three weeks ago a small discussion began for me and I decided to try to put my thoughts in an organized fashion in an article, which I am prone to do, it seems to be my nature as a writer and teacher. (I really can’t help myself.) I wrote the article “I’m not an Animal” and I thought I did a rather good job of expressing my thoughts concerning “the soul” of man, and how the answer “for me” lies in the spiritual realms. Nonetheless, after writing it I ended up in a bigger evolution debate with a young man named Adam, which I welcomed, and I tried to stretch myself to talk in terms more scientific, as much as I could.

Basically God came to my rescue when another person, by name of Benjamight came into the discussion and was able to talk Adam’s language. I mean, they really had a discussion, if you know what I mean? And Benjamight did an excellent job of defending the Bible. (He really did.) I guess you could say they talked to a stalemate at the very least. In the process, I made an effort to try to learn a little more science.

I did not expect what happened next. A new discussion of the subject sprung up on WordExpress Weekly magazine, and boy it was going full steam with no Christians there to defend Creationism. Adam had moved to the magazine, copied his argument to it, but made no mention of the Benjamight. I found this group basically asking where all the Christians were to defend their Creationism? Well, most of us were working! But I jumped in any way, since no one else was around, and I also put out a shout for Benjamight. Thank goodness he showed up and , WOW, did things get interesting then! Once that discussion finally ended, I thought, “good”, we shared a lot of good stuff and people can make up their own mind. That discussion was eventually removed and I thought it was over…but not so.

I came back to the magazine to find a new discussion going on the topic as if no Benjamight had ever said anything before. I started to jump in again, but quickly became so sick of the subject that I thought if I typed another word I was going to literally throw up. I typed a last statement and left the discussion. I had complete burnout on the subject, and was so ready to get back into the peace of God, spirit, and nature. But as I drove in the quiet of my truck all that night, I kept asking myself the question, why do I lack the interest in this subject that so many others seem to have?

I had to ask myself, “Why do I lack interest in the subject of evolution?”

It was quite a while before I felt like I really got to my answer. I didn’t have any good answers at first. I had just never tried to understand this part of me before, and yet, because of three weeks of discussions, I now found myself wanting to understand this. I realized it immediately when the real answer began to come, and that is what I am ready to share.

People say the Bible is no longer relevant. Actually, just the opposite is true. The Bible is still ahead of its time! We are the ones who are behind and still trying to comprehend everything that is in it, of which we have barely scratched the surface of! We have yet to catch up with the Bible! We say it is old and no longer relevant in our modern-day of living. The Bible laughs at us and says we are still so far behind, we do not even comprehend what we have in our hands!

I remember a very cold night and my semi was breaking down. The fuel filter was freezing up, my temperature gauge was going up for some unknown reason, snow was flying, the wind was blowing like sixty, pitch black outside, and I was in a mess! Of course, I started asking God for help. I was praying with and without my understanding, a supernatural thing many people have no knowledge of. I did not break down and God got me through that night, and you know what? On a night like that, whether I evolved from a monkey or not is completely irrelevant! How was my monkey’s uncle going to help me that night? And yet I reached into the supernatural and got real help right when I needed it! I could tell you many instances just like that.

God told me this economic crunch was coming. He said I needed to make more money and told me what to do. I completely left my warehouse job, became a truck driver, more than doubled my income, and now, while so many people are hurting, my house is “almost” the only debt I have. In another six months it will be.

A lot of working men have lower back problems. I injured my lower back lifting things I never should have. The problem was very persistent but I did not want anyone to know I was damaged goods, it can be bad for job prospects. So I never went to any kind of doctor, never had any kind of surgery, and yet I overcame that problem, with the help of God, and it is completely gone. I have a pain-free body. My list could go on and on and I will not bore you with any more, but I have learned this entire creation has Spiritual Laws woven into its fabric, and if you learn them, and apply them, you can drastically affect your physical, emotional, and spiritual environment! This knowledge is hidden in the word of God, and I have barely scratched the surface! Jesus was the Master at it, and he showed us what is really possible.

I get very excited every time I discover a new spiritual law that can help me not only in the here and now, but also eternity. Evolution is basically irrelevant in that regard. I have no desire to spend precious time on a theory that is so full of missing links it would sink a battleship, when I can be learning powerful supernatural truths that empower my life today and forever! And this is why I love what I love.

Time is precious. People are precious. How is my monkey’s uncle going to help me face financial difficulties? My wife and I raised five kids on an income of 35,000 dollars per year, while giving to the Church! (All five kids are doing well.) Evolution never helped my wife and I have a solid marriage of 35 years now, in a time when 50% of marriages fail! I find no hope in evolution when I face death! In God’s supernatural I have found power, peace, joy, real answers, life, understanding, wisdom, morals, prophetic future, answers about the “other side”, and most of all…I found God!

I understand Christians who want to learn scientific answers that support the Bible and God. I believe that is a ministry in itself. And I believe Benjamight is most likely one of those people, and he sure helped me during that time. We all have our own calling in God, but God and the Bible are still waiting on man to “catch up”. We are the ones who are behind, and except for God’s great love, we would be the ones who are irrelevant!

Here’ some science for you. I heard a scientist last night, talking on the Quantum theory. They do not understand how a subatomic particle seems to behave different when it is being “observed” by man, from when it is not being “observed”. They theorize that our consciousness may affect things! I have always believed “faith” affects things, even to the point of shaping things. It is the world I have lived in for some time now. Is this evidence of that? I do not know, but, he also said that most cutting edge scientist agree that the Big Bang makes no sense at all. So here we are, another scientific “theory”. Have fun with it all you lovers of science! Figure it all out and let me know what it means. In the meantime, I’m going camping. I’m going to walk wooded paths, listen to the wind in the trees, pray and ask God things, and enjoy a campfire under a star lit sky. The world is changing, and it may be changing away from God, I am well aware of this, I am aware of many things I see coming. But let the world do what it will, I’m staying on the cutting edge with God. I love it here.

“I’m not an Animal”

I was having a discussion with a friend recently, about evolution. We are friends in spite of our differences, even as this discussion was once again confirming. Of course he mentioned the similarities of man to ape and how there is only like one chromosome difference. I told him that didn’t mean anything, dogs are very similar to cats in many ways, but that don’t mean a dog came from a cat, or vise versa. Or a horse from a cow. We went round and round a little bit. I mentioned that supposedly Darwin himself questioned his theory towards the end of his life. He said that was a lie, he never did. I did a little research and learned it was Lady Hope who made the claim, a very religious and devout woman who did not have a track record of lying, but Darwin’s family flat-out denies the claim, and therefore, we just don’t know, but I did learn that Darwin was quoted in his latter days saying this in 1879:

“I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of God.”(Is that taught in our schools along with the theory?)

It was after our discussion that I realized it is really not about physical similarities, chromosomes, how smart an ape might be capable of becoming, not even if he learns algebra and builds a house one day. Scripturally speaking, it has nothing to do with any of that. It was one of those “aha!” moments for me. A sudden revelation, and once again, I learned something.

God gives us the answer way back in the beginning, in Genesis. I will try to condense this for the sake of speed, but I don’t think you will have any problem following what I’m about to say. The first point is that Genesis chapter one makes it very plain that God made every animal “after his kind”. This is repeated over and over. Example:

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.” (Gen. 1:24)

This phrase, “after his kind”, is spoken over and over and over again, until it comes time to create man, and then very different words are used. Now God says:

“And God said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness:…” (Gen 1:26a)

No. This is not yet my point. Here is what really happened, in detail, when God created man. (Gen. 2:7)

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,… and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;… and he became a living soul.”

Notice three steps! Not one or two, but three! 1.) His body formed from the dust of the ground. 2.) Breathes into his nostrils the breath of life! This is where God is imparting “spirit” into Adam! Life! 3.) And he became a living “soul”! There is no record of anything like this with any animal. Now add to this to what Jesus said in (Matt. 16:26):

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

So what am I saying here? The part that makes man different is the possession of an eternal “SOUL”! And Jesus said, don’t lose your soul! We are made in the image of God, three parts, body, spirit, and “soul”! Both the body of man and animals go back to the dust of the earth, it is the soul that makes man “not an animal”.

Now this led to some interesting spiritual conclusions as I continued to follow this line of thinking. It is Satan who wants to reduce man to living like animals. The flesh, in all of its forms, the lust of the flesh, can so easily lead man astray from following his soul after God, to living in his flesh like an animal. If there was ever a doctrine spawned from hell to convince man he is an animal, it is the “THEORY” of evolution.

It is the “soul” that makes man “not an animal”!

Lust is the way of the animal and love is the way of God. True love leads to commitment between two people, animal lust leads to sex for the sake of sex, not love. To convince me of evolution, you would have to prove I have no “soul” to lose, or that an ape does have a soul. It is not about anything physical, it is about everything spiritual.

Man can live like an animal if he wants to, and lose his soul. I have seen people who live that way. Most people, because they have a soul and conscience, try not to live as an animal even if they may think they evolved from one. The soul in us makes a difference even when we don’t believe in it! But Jesus said, don’t lose your soul.

It is not about anything physical, it is about everything spiritual!

Romans chapter one adds a very interesting light to this.  I’ll use “Revised Standard Version” for simpler understanding.

(Romans 1:22-23) “Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles.”

Man wanting to be animals is not new. It goes way back. But as a result of the previous verse, the next two verses become even more interesting. First I want to look at verse 25, and then we will add verse 24 to it.

(vrs 25) “because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served the CREATURE rather than the CREATOR, who is blessed forever! Amen.”

And so here we are again, with a large number of our population wanting to serve the “creature”, rather than our “Creator”. We believe in the “creature”! We do not believe in the “Creator”, nor will we serve him!     (Now for verse 24.)

(vrs 24)Therefore God gave them up in the lust of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,…”

(vrs 28) “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.” ( The King James says “reprobate” mind.)

(vrs 26) “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged the natural relations for unnatural, and men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.”

Yes, we can choose to live like animals. It is not the way God created us, nor is it his desire for us, but to not live as an animal means we are willing to accept certain rules of conduct. Did you notice that refusing to acknowledge God as our Creator lead people towards unnatural sexual behaviour? Yes, this would include homosexuality. Is this a sign of our time? Is this why so many people claim to be born this way? Is it just coincidence that the more we seem to deny the existence of God, the more we seem to see an increasing amount, and an increasing boldness in homosexual behaviour, to do that which is against nature?

The Bible instructs us to walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. (Galatians 5:16-17)

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you would.”

They are opposed to each other! King James says they are contrary to each other. There is a portion of our society who will look for any excuse to justify their animal behaviour. God is completely against us living as animals. The whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation is about man not being an animal and not living as an animal! They were made after their kind! (Genesis 1!) We have in us the seed to be the children of God! Animals do not have that! They would trade with us in an instant if they had the chance! What a great gift to be made in the image of God and we would throw it away to say we are just a bunch of highly evolved apes? No thanks! I know a bum deal when I see one! The devil offers his deals in a very pretty package, but what’s inside is rotten to the core!

No. I don’t care if apes learn to wear clothes and talk on facebook, the answer does not lie in the physical, the answer lies in the spirit, something called a soul. Jesus said, do not lose your soul. Do not choose to be an animal. Do not choose the creation over the Creator. So once again we are back to “faith”. We are forced to come to God in spirit, or not at all. We are forced to listen to that still voice inside and decide what we believe is true. I cannot “prove” mine, and you cannot “prove” yours. We will come to God in Spirit and in truth, or we will not come to him at all, and we will lose our soul, and then we can be the animal we wanted to be.

I choose to honor my Creator and not be an animal, and therefore not live as an animal. I choose to walk after the Spirit in my life, and choose the “high road”, that leads to much better things. I choose to live by certain rules of conduct, and seek higher things in my spiritual potential. Animals do not have spiritual potential. They are what they are and animals will be in heaven. The lion will lie down with the lamb, but they will never be the Bride of Christ!

So the next time I’m at the zoo, I will look deep into the eyes of an ape and I will say, “I am not you, and you are not me. Praise God!”

“Why faith?”

Why does God insist on faith rather than just proving himself? I just had to have an answer for that and I bugged God until I got something that seemed right. If you would like my take on this, simply click on “The Answer Man” button above. I like things simple. I’m not a facts and figures man by nature. I keep it as simple as I can. Maybe you will agree with me or not? Maybe you will have a thought of your own? In any case, welcome to J.C.C.!

“Painting on the Wall”

“Sir, I am insulted. I could not possibly part with this painting for less than $500.00. I assure you, this is a one-of-a-kind original that will probably never ever happen again,” the man stated with great confidence to his prospective buyer. However, the buyer continued to appear skeptical and unwilling to pay that kind of money, even though it was obvious he loved the painting, he was not a fool and would not be easily taken. The seller continued eyeing his customer, aware of every signal. This man was a professional and made his living selling this very painting, and a fine living he made at it, too.

“It’s like I explained before,” he continued, “this painting is a one-in-a-million, one-in-a-trillion even! I swear on a stack of ten Bibles it really happened just the way I said. All the evidence points that direction, even the police said so!”

The admirer continued in silence, inspecting the painting on the wall. The seller gave the man some “space”, he knew timing was everything, but this guy was a tough nut to crack, so he decided to press on with a question of his own. “Are you an ‘expert’ in these matters, Sir? You see, I just happen to be one. I know about these things. I have an ‘Arts Degree’ from Harvard. Therefore, you should listen to what I have to say. You would not want to look like a fool in front of your friends. Everybody knows what an expert I am. My name is well-known, I have articles in Art magazines, I am quoted by other experts, and admired by many. I’m offering you the deal of a life time, just because I’m in a rare generous mood.”

“Okay, since I’m in such a good mood, I’ll tell you the story one more time. Judging by your attire, I see you might be a bit ‘slow’, shall we say? As I said before, it was like this, I was awoken one morning by the sound of a terrible explosion, it shook my bed like an earthquake! I jumped up and rushed to the door of my house and found my garage had exploded! It was a pile of smoking toothpicks and rubble! Of course, you can imagine my shock. I was just lucky the force of the explosion seemed to put out the fire, but the smoke rising was so thick I couldn’t see a thing! As I stood there with my mouth hanging open, I considered the valuables I had stored in that building, now gone up in smoke. However, amongst those items was an assortment of art materials, as I said, I am an expert in this field. I had artist brushes, tubes of paint, rolls of canvas, knives, and wood to create frames. Now. Sir, I realize how hard this is to believe, but this has to be true, there simply are no other possibilities. As I stood there watching the smoke slowly clearing, I began to see something standing in the middle of all the rubble! I thought, how can this be? I rubbed my eyes to clear the sleep still hanging on me. I looked again, and now I could see it even more so!”

“Just as sure as I’m standing here telling you the truth today, I found this painting, finished, framed, and standing on an easel in the midst of the smoke! This painting has no Artist! It is the result of a complete freak accident! In that explosion all my paints were forced from their tubes while the brushes flew through the air, and the paint got on the little ends of the little brushes and masterfully swished all around on the canvas in mid-air! Then, somehow, the canvas got cut, stretched over a wood frame that had accidentally come together, and then landed upon my painter’s stand for all to see! As I carefully trudged my way through all the smoking debris I was near to fainting at the thought of the miracle before my eyes! Why, Sir, I should be insisting on $5,000 for this painting, not 500! This painting has no artist! It has no Creator! It is beautiful ‘order’ that came out of complete ‘chaos’! ‘Order out of Chaos’! That’s what I should call it!”

“Pardon me, what was that you asked? I was so caught up in my story I failed to hear what you said. Those scribbles? What scribbles? I don’t see any scribbles.”

“Oh, no, Sir. Remember, I’m the ‘expert’ here. I went to college and have a degree. That is just a grassy area in the painting. Those are not scribbles. This painting was a complete freak accident. No Artist involved. Look closely again. You will see that I am right. I am sure you will see that I am right. Everybody else has.”

“Let me tell you something, partner,” the potential buyer slowly spoke. “I may not have a degree, but you’re nuts. I’ll give you $25.00 for that painting, and not a penny more. You can take it or leave it.”

“I’ll take it.” the seller agreed while adding, “You drive a hard bargain, Cowboy.”

Author’s Note:

I may be just a Cowboy, but any fool can see a painting hanging on a wall and know it had an Artist, even without seeing a signature. Heck, I even supplied a garage full of materials to make it more possible, and it’s STILL impossible! Out of complete nothingness came all this beautiful design and material we have enjoyed for centuries. However, just as the Bible tells us it’s beginning, it also has a teaching on what shall be its end. I may be just a Cowboy, but I think I’d check that out, Partner.
