Ever feel like you’re just a stone dropped in water?
Ever feel like all you are is a Ker-plunk?
Hope you enjoy the following article.
“MORE THAN I KNOW”
Lord help me know the value of a soul…even my own.
These things we take for granted.
The sun rises. / Just another day?
Is there really any such thing?
A stone drops in water. Is that all I am?
Just the plunk of a stone?
Is that all I am?
But no…there are ripples.
About those ripples. Do I care?
We all cause them.
Every action…every deed….every word.
Even if I don’t care, I still cause ripples…
I am a stone dropped in water.
But I’m not “just” a stone. I am ripples,
and the ripples are very important.
Jesus said, LIVE FOR THE RIPPLES.
Ripples speak louder than words.
God will judge.
How to fix so many little waves?
Do not take for granted.
Jesus said, “I am the way.”
The only way.
This day is important…
I am important…
MORE THAN I KNOW.
I believe in the Ripple Effect. The ripple effect of discipleship. “Go ye therefore and teach all nations…”. The personal story of “Gotham” will continue soon. I am more than a month behind on it now. Much is happening. This poem was written as I worked my new job. (I do not end up at STARBUCKS. Details will come in the story.)
The fact that so much is happening is part of the reason my story is farther behind. If you go to the first chapter of “Gotham” and read of its humble beginnings, one might surmise there was little hope for one such as I. But now I find myself in a new job, going to a new church, and having made many new contacts outside that church. God is doing a thing and it is blooming and blossoming one day at a time. Not on my timetable, for surely I would have rushed into things more quickly if I could have.
The first “House of H.O.P.E.” is about to launch! More can be learned about that by going to 1000housesofhope.wordpress.com
Since I’m so far behind, I will try to squeeze a little more into the next chapter of “Gotham”. But may the reader understand that those things happening now, would not have happened without being faithful to God’s leading in chapters 1,2,3,4, and so on. Every chapter has been important, even when it may have felt like I was getting nowhere and did not understand what was going on. Should you decide to become a Caped Crusader for God, you can find inspiration and understanding in every chapter. It’s hard to get people to actually read and study, these days. But for those who do, God has his rewards. Let it be a Holy Spirit Ripple Effect.
THE ENCOUNTER III > This story is written as if fictional, but it is not, I’m living this every day. Have you heard a call in your soul saying, “Gotham needs you?” This is one man’s attempt to identify and answer that call. To take up the mantle of being a Caped Crusader. I am caped in God’s Covering and led by his Spirit. Indianapolis is my Gotham. Where and what is yours?
December 17, 2014. Don sat in the darkness of his God Cave pondering. It was still early and he had not prayed yet, but his mind was filled with thoughts of last night. So he sat in his special place, his Batcave, his place of ministry and focus. Only a computer screen glowed in front of him for some lighting. His Bible lay open in that glow.
“What was that? What just happened last night? Was that real?” But it was so simple, and it was so powerful. He could still feel God moving through him as he had prayed for those people. And what about Charlie? “I never witnessed to a person in such a simple way before, and yet I think it was the best witness I ever did. What was that, Lord? I want more.”
His thoughts continued to roll as he replayed last night in his mind. “Points of pain” the Southern Baptist had said. And now this young man that he had had the privilege of mentoring when he was young and growing up, now this young man had become a connection point to everything God had revealed to him in his one year sabbatical. That one year was racing towards an end, soon he would find a job and get back into the workforce, but not quite yet, and God’s leading was getting stronger every day!
Chris, the young man in mention, had become a Church planter for the Southern Baptist denomination. They had a mandate to target “Points of Pain” all around and within the city of Indianapolis. He had literally started from scratch with this inner city apartment complex. He went in there praying and seeking a way to connect and minister. There had been resistance from the apartments in the beginning. They did not know him, his wife, and his five daughters, three of whom are foster children. They did not know this strange white person coming in wanting to plant flowers and do simple landscaping and property clean-up for them. They were suspicious, and thought he might pose a threat. It was a rocky road in the beginning, but Chris had heard God’s voice and he kept praying and obeying in simple faith.
Then a Southern Baptist Ministry team came up to help him for a day. They drove a long ways to get there and now Chris had them helping do landscaping. A leader on the team wanted to have a word with him. “Look, Chris, I didn’t drive all the way up here to do landscaping. Isn’t there something more going on here?”
Chris had no answer, because as of yet no one in the complex had opened up to them. He walked away to his car and began to pray to God. “Oh God, I know you led me here, but how can I answer these people that have come so far to help? I need something from you God.” He poured out his heart for a few minutes, not knowing what he was going to do. When he finally turned around to go back to the work, he discovered that the very first person had made contact, and she was talking to the very man who had been asking is there no more than this? It also turned out that this lady had a son who was killed in the very playground they were working, and she just wanted to let them know she appreciated what they were doing. Now Don knew he had just seen what this grassroots outreach had grown to. It was still very fragile, but it was definitely growing! It was alive! And God showed up there!
And then there was the witnessing encounter with Charlie.
“Hhmm, wow Lord. What a special night.” Don thought about his next blogsite article he needed to write. This story of “Do you have your Gotham” was very alive and well, and it was going somewhere. He also felt like he had a lead on the job he should apply for. A place working downtown with opportunity to meet people and make connections. After much walking around and praying, it seemed to make logical sense, and so it was time. It was time to make a decision and move in that direction. He would send out four applications by way of Internet. He had four places already picked out to target. The thought of it scared him a little, no… who was he kidding… it scared him a lot! But if this was the path, God would help him. He was poised and ready to make applications to become… a “STARBUCKS barista”.
“Lord help me. It’s time to pray.”
(I promise the next chapter to come soon, and more details of that night will be given. The apartment complex will not be named, but this is an evangelistic outreach you don’t want to miss. We ask the question of W.W.J.D? What would Jesus do? But I have been asking the question of: W.D.J.D? What “did” Jesus do? He very plainly showed us the discipleship method he used with his home in Capernaum as his home base. This story is still a month behind and I can tell you there are great details of this journey yet to come. Thanks for reading. 🙂
Jesus Every Day Intense!
Judge Every Day Inspired!
2015 begins and all we know is that the first Star Wars movie to come out in a long time will be hitting at the end of this year for those of us still here to see it. No one knows for whom the bell tolls between now and then. A fact we should always take seriously. So…ARE YOU READY? Ready for what? To meet your Maker if he calls.
I’ve only seen one trailer for the coming movie. THERE HAS BEEN AN AWAKENING. HAVE YOU FELT IT? (Long pause).
THE DARK SIDE…
AND THE LIGHT.
There is an awakening going on. I have felt it. I am also watching it in our Church. I’m not the only one feeling it. Christians are returning to prayer and the fire. Christians are beginning to step outside the Church box in an effort to disciple. Christians are beginning to bring Light against the darkness. Aren’t you tired of the evil growing all around us? It’s only going to change one way, and that is if we become people of “The Way” again.
J.E.D.I. Christianity is growing. I’m actually leaving my Church in order to join it. Yes, it is true. I have been involved in two Churches for some time now. One Church is praying hard and a fire is building, the other Church is not. I thought I could help lead them there, but my efforts have failed and I heard God plainly this morning. It’s time to leave. Start a new year somewhere that the people have a heart to pray.
I’m keeping this short today, but we must realize that just like a Jedi Knight had certain disciplines and weapons of their “Way”, SO DO WE, and it is time we get back to it. It is time we get about our Father’s business in “The Way” he showed us to do it. It is time to have JESUS EVERY DAY INTENSE AND JUDGE EVERY DAY INSPIRED!
For we are a Priesthood first, and everything else second!
Lets begin a LOSER Revolution. In the word “resolution” is the word “loser”. Yes, that is right, big “L” on forehead. Turn those first four letters backwards and see what you get. RESOLution. How about this year we determine to LOSE our life for Christ and have a Resolution Revolution! Now that is getting back to the way, the truth, and the life! J.E.D.I.! Can you handle it?
“THE ENCOUNTER III” > The story is written as if fictional, but it is not, I’m living this every day. Signed: Don.
The bus continued rolling in the night. It turned right at the VA Hospital and did a horseshoe shaped loop past the Eskenazi Hospital, and then back out onto 10th street. The Internet had spoken of a hub drop around Senate and Capitol. That sounded like a good place to jump off, and they would soon be there.
As a hub stop, several were exiting at this point, which made it easy to recognize. Don grabbed his small backpack and quickly slipped out the middle side door onto the street. Acting like he knew what he was doing, he immediately began walking in a direction he hoped led to Circle Center Mall. He looked like he knew where he was going but actually he was still finding his bearings. It was hard to miss Monument Circle, so as soon as he spotted it, he turned, knowing he could find his way from there.
Now that he had his bearings he was free to think about what he came here for, to hear God. He would walk in the night, he would look and listen, he would commune with God in his soul, and he would listen for leading. This was a spiritual scouting trip. Just riding the IndyGo bus downtown had been a new experience, and he wasn’t sure what bus stop he planned to take back, because he also wanted to walk through the college campus area, and that would take him away from the Circle, and the Mall.
Finding the Mall he began his journey through. He looked at the people sitting in Panera Bread, laptops open, or chit-chatting with a friend, a cup of coffee in their hand. He walked past so many food places in the food courtyard. “What about that place, Lord?” But he felt nothing. He walked through all three levels and passed many stores, but nothing stood out. Finally reaching his favorite area, the Garden Center, he found a bench and sat watching the people moving below, on the sidewalks outside, and he prayed, and he listened.
Much to his surprise he had noticed there was a Starbuck right on Monument Circle. He did not know this. He had been fasting all day. “Yes, a green tea latte would be wonderful. I will end the fast and enjoy the view of the Circle, and I will listen. I will sip my latte and listen.
A short hike later it had all come true. He had his drink and a stool right in front of the street window looking out at the War Monument. It was a very comfortable night. People were out and about in the beautiful fall weather. This Starbuck was known for having Baristas that were the best in town. They moved like high-speed efficient machines and yet could manage to be friendly at the same time. Soon, as he stared out the window, people passing, War Monument standing, friendly chatter all around, he thought about the power of his new life, and how much he wanted to share it.
For too long he had thought being a Christian was just about being a good person, with the help of God, but now he knew it was more, it was so much more, it was supernatural. He pulled the book from his bag, “Flap Less / Soar More”, and then took another delicious sip of his hot latte. It was just reaching the best temperature. He stared at the eagle soaring on the cover, and he wished every person knew what God was offering them. The question was, how was he going to find a way to share? Even just one person? God would send him downtown even for just one, but in his heart he knew it would be more.
What was the difference in his new life? It was like a child trying to fly a kite but there was no wind. He had been the child running, running, and running. As long as he ran, pulling the string behind him, the kite would fly, but as soon as he stopped, it started falling back to the ground, and so he ran again! Flapping, flapping, flapping. Somehow he knew it was right for the kite to fly, but what he did not understand was how God wanted to send a Wind. Once he caught a glimpse of the power of his priesthood to ride the Wind…he understood supernatural…he understood soaring…and he would never live the same again!
So he was here to soar, not flap. His night had gone well so far, and he had learned much, but the night was not over. Countless people moving all around him, candles in the night, glowing now but so quickly out if chance happened upon them. There would be a way, and God would show him. No one knew, no one suspected that a silver haired man sipping on a latte, staring at a War Monument, was a warrior at heart, and he felt very good to be here, to be right here.
